Device is onboarded by updating instance and connector configuration.
Instance configuration must be updated when a connector module (required by the device protocol) was not included in the initial deployment. After configuration is updated, an instance will automatically download and install a new connector.
Connector configuration must be updated for each new device with device-specific parameters such as device type, model, address, port, security credentials (cetificates), etc.
Configuration parameters for a connector can be stored either in the Factory Online 365 internal (embeded) or in the external configuration registry. In the latter case, customers can store configuration in any external storage system of their choice and send these parameters to a connector as a part of client API messages.
